Karachi June 22: Governor Sindh Mr. Mohammad Zubair has said that economic reforms and the required economic policy of the Federal Government was making a positive impact on the economy of the country and also resulting in enhancement industrial productivity, job opportunities and social activities.
The he said while talking with a 16-member delegation of Ittehad Cottage Industries Association led by its president Haji Salheen Tanoli here today at Governor House.
He said that small industries have a very significant role in the economy as they provide ample job opportunities to the locals besides contributing to the national exchequer. Government would attach top priority to the solution of problems being confronted by cottage industries so as to ensure smooth functioning of the same, he assured
Governor Sindh said that rapid industrial development was not possible without improving infrastructure facilities specially in industrial areas. Federal Government was aware of this very fact and was initiating infrastructure development on priority basis Small industrial units were an integral part of economy and as such it was essential to provide all basis amenities there, he observed.
He said that Federal and provincial Governments would be approached for redressal of grievances of small cottage industries as it was their right.
He said that Prime Minister has always given priority to industries and solution of their problems for accelerated economic development. After maintenance of law & order situation specially in Karachi, focus was on ensuing availability of energy according to domestic and industrial consumption, he added.
Governor Sindh said that CPEC has 34 billion dollars energy projects which would not only fulfil the gap of supply and demand but ensure availability of surplus electricity from March 2018.
President of the Association Haji Salheen Tanoli informed Governor Sindh about the industries in Balida. He said that it has hundreds of small units including iron re-rolling mills.
Haji Salheen further said that the main road of the area which is Abu Hurrara road, is in dilapidated condition since long. People are facing immense difficulties in travelling on this road, he added.
Haji Salheen also asked for extension of orange line from orangi no-5 to Hub River road saying that its extension would be beneficial not only for people of Baldia, Saeedabad, Naval Colony but also for people coming from Baluchistan.
He also pointed out towards working of Baldia water pumping station, which is not performing to its capacity due to outdated motors. The association has installed a feeder for the area with the permission of K-Electric costing Rs. 180 million on self help basis. We want to install new motors at the pumping station for which KW&SB permission is required, he added.
Governor Sindh assured that he would talk to provincial Government regarding extension of orange line to Hub River Road and would consult with Federal Government for construction of the main road of the area. KW&SB would also be approached for replacement of motors at the pumping station, he further assured.
