Karachi June 4:Governor Sindh Mr.Mohammad Zubair has said that agriculture sector was of immense importance  for the province and with the increasing population there was an urgent need to acquire and implement modern methods of cultivation ,designed for specific crop and piece  of land so as to ensure utmost agriculture produce.

This he said while talking to a 15 member delegation of growers at Governor House.
The delegation members included Raja Ansari,Raja Abdul Haq,Mr.Zain Ansari,Mr.Hameer Unnar,Mr.Yousuf Rajput,Mr.Anwar Ali Mari,Mir Ejaz Ali Talpur,Mr.Raza Chandio ,Malik Abdul Ghaffar,Mr.Zahid Hussain Noon, Mr.Muhammad Moosa,Qari Noor Muhammad ,Mr.Abdul Haq Phull,Mr.Irshad Ali Phull and  Wahred  Ali Phull.

Growers informed Governor Sindh  about their problems which included provision of Solar tube wells, non availability of water to tail -end growers,sale of fake pesticides and other issues.  
Governor Sindh said that Sindh is a fertile agriculture province and for getting better and enhanced agriculture yields it was essential to ensure constant availability of water and power,research for new varieties of seeds and timely announcement of rates of crops.Use of modern techniques coupled with availability  of required facilities could usher an era or agriculture  development and prosperity,he added.

He said that special emphasis is being laid on maintenance of water courses including thier cleaning and strengthening.The bottlenecks in supply of water to tail-end growers would also be removed, he added.

Raja Abdul Haq said that no action is taken by police on the complaints of growers regarding water theft from the canals.Fake pesticides are being sold in the province which are very harmful  to crops,he added.

Raja Abdul Haq also asked that solar tube wells be provided to the growers of Sindh as being done   in Punjab so as to enhance productivity.

Mir Ejaz Talpur informed Governor  Sindh that water theft is common on both Nara and Rohri canals  ,which is depriving tail-end growers of water for cultivation.

Mr.Hameer Unnar said that the rate of variou crops are announced very late which is adding to the  hardship of farmers.

It was further informed  that  no meeting of water allocation committee has been  held for last five years which is against the law.

Governor Sindh said that he would speak to concerned authorities for the solution of these issues
