Karachi March 17: Governor Sindh Mr. Mohammad Zubair has said that Pakistan specially Karachi was in far better conditions with regards to law & orders situation as compared to 2013. Enhancement in foreign investment political, social, economic activities is being noticed by all Karachiites and the fear factor prevailing at that time has disappeared.
This he said while talking with a 45-member delegation of Air War Course 2017, being conducted by Air War College Karachi. Many officers from foreign forces are also attending the course.
He said that common man was affected due to law & order situation in Karachi and all activities halted due to unfavourable conditions, here members of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have rendered unprecedented sacrifices for restoration of peace and tranquility in Karachi and it is gradually regaining its past glory, he observed.
He said that persistent and continuous training and refresher courses for personnel of LEAs were of immense importance as it not only enhances their capabilities but also prepare them for ever changing challenges of national security.
Mr. Zubair said that Karachi was the economic hub of Pakistan and any activity here directly affects the country’s economy. After maintenance of law & order in Karachi, its potential and favourable investment opportunities needed to by unearthed by local as well as global investors, he opined
He said that there was an urgent need for making joint efforts for posting Karachi at internal economic map prominently. It has a huge potential of investment which no multinational company could ignore, he added
He said that due to the policies of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the economy of Pakistan was improving. Sindh would also benefit from CPEC projects specially in energy sector, he added
Mr. Zubair further said that CPEC is a game changer not only for Pakistan but for the entire region. As many as 62 billion US dollars worth projects are in pipeline for CPEC from which almost 34 billion US dollars projects are in power sector, he added.
Governor Sindh said that there is a shortfall of around 5000 mw in the country and after completion of power sector projects next year there will be 10400 mw more electricity available in the national grid.
Mr. Zubair said that he was in contract with every political party of the province so as to work jointly for ensuring accelerated pace of development in Sindh. He also pledged to continue the operation till its logical end to get rid of remaining terrorists and operation Raad-ul-Fassad would yield desired result in this regard.
The participants of the delegation enquired about the overall political situation, measures taken for ensuring peace and the constitutional role and responsibilities of Governor.
